At English Martyrs’, we are dedicated to meeting the individual needs of our children in our happy, caring and safe environment.
Nursery & Reception began our topic of ‘Ourselves’ by drawing our own self portraits and recording our names. We made our own faces using loose parts on the Fingergym. We made bodies using the felt body parts.
Key Stage 1 is comprised of 2 year groups: Year 1 (ages 5-6) and Year 2 (ages 6-7). Children enter Key Stage 1 in Year 1.
Our Key Stage 2 curriculum continues the progressive learning journey from Key Stage 1, building strongly on the individual and collective foundations already established. Each of the four years the children spend in Key Stage 2 provides reinforcement of key skills and knowledge and opportunities to explore ideas and develop individual abilities.
This half term our Key Stage 2 pupils have worked with staff from AESC to learn about careers in the car industry. The children really enjoyed making their own battery powered clock and a working model wind turbine as part of STEM.
